MoneyGram Increases Grand Prize to $100,000 in House for Mom Sweepstakes
Minneapolis, Minn., April 2, 2007 MoneyGram kicked off its annual Buy a House for Mom sweepstakes on April 1 with a new grand prize of $100,000, a 25 percent increase over last years prize. MoneyGram also will award 50 first prizes of $500 each, in addition to the grand prize. For the next two months, anyone in the U.S. sending a MoneyGram money transfer will automatically be entered in the sweepstakes. There is also a no purchase necessary method of entry so interested consumers can enter the sweepstakes by mail.
MoneyGram service helps families stay connected, said Beryl Opondo, MoneyGrams marketing manager for Africa. This annual sweepstakes is a great time for Africans living in the U.S. to try out the MoneyGram service. Its a safe, fast way to send and receive money worldwide in as little as ten minutes.* You also dont need to have a bank account.
The winner of last years sweepstakes was a nurse living in Illinois, who regularly sent money home to her parents in the Philippines through MoneyGram. A $500 money transfer she sent them last April was randomly selected as the winning entry. While the grand prize winner is not required to use the money to Buy a House for Mom, last years winner was planning to use part of her winnings to help her parents with housing. At the time, her family was trying to rebuild their lives after a typhoon in the Philippines devastated their home.
This years sweepstakes runs from April 1 to May 31, 2007. Winners of the promotion will be notified in September.
Any international or domestic transactions sent from money transfer agent locations in the U.S., as well as online transactions sent via MoneyGram eMoney Transfer during the contests time period are included in the drawing. MoneyGram ExpressPayment transactions are not eligible for the sweepstakes. A complete list of rules for the promotion is available on the MoneyGram Web site at www.moneygram.com.
