The Prince George's Chamber of Commerce's economic development and state of the economy showcase was aptly titled "Blueprint for Success." The sixth annual event served as a grand introduction for Dr. James A. Dula, the chamber's newly designated president and CEO who will help continue Prince George's County's ascendancy as one of the nation's best places in which to live and do business. The gathering, which attracted more than 800 attendees from throughout the state, also witnessed significant involvement from the county's influential and growing African business community, which will serve as a key partner in Dula's efforts.
Dula, 57, said his "ultimate goal is to create a model Chamber of Commerce, one that our members can have pride in and one that advocates effectively for our business community." Dula has the experience to accomplish that goal. During 30 years of military service, he attained the rank of major and served on the Panama Canal Transition Team. After retiring, he taught high school in Prince George's County and served as the Health and Human Services Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Prince George's County. He holds a doctorate in public administration, and is the Maryland Leadership Chair for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Dula and his wife, Phyllis, have a daughter and two grandchildren.
